Saif Abukeshek, a Spanish citizen of Palestinian origin, described spending 10 days in Israeli detention after being abducted in international waters. He said he heard daily screams of Palestinians being tortured inside the detention facility. Abukeshek and Brazilian activist Thiago Ávila were the only flotilla members detained for “questioning” in Israel, while most others were released in Crete. Abukeshek said dual nationality and international attention provided some protection. He urged imagining how Palestinians are treated and the violations they experience. Israel deported the two activists after the detention.
