Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare and Sunderland winger Romaine Mundle were targeted with racist abuse on social media following their teams' defeats. Managers Rob Edwards and Regis le Bris condemned the incidents and pledged support for their players. Four Premier League players total received racist abuse that weekend, including Burnley's Hannibal Mejbri and Chelsea's Wesley Fofana. Rangers players Emmanuel Fernandez and Djeidi Gassama also experienced similar abuse in Scotland. The UK Football Policing Unit is investigating and committed to identifying perpetrators. Anti-discrimination group Kick It Out reported record levels of online abuse, with a 33% increase compared to the previous season and a 115% increase in police reports.
