Charlie Wyke suffered a severe leg break in October 2024 that dislocated his ankle and damaged ligaments, requiring multiple operations with wires and pins. A surgeon advised retirement, but the 32-year-old striker began a long training programme and has returned to grass work as his recovery improves. Wyke reported feeling more positive and said playing one more game would be enough, while acknowledging a long road remains. He previously survived a cardiac arrest in November 2021 and took nine months to return to competition.
