Wrexham are moving to sign Coventry midfielder Ben Sheaf for approximately £6.5m as part of an aggressive summer transfer strategy by the Hollywood-owned club. The 27-year-old was influential in Coventry's run to the 2024 FA Cup semi-finals and was regarded among the Championship's top midfielders last season. Injuries, the arrival of Matt Grimes and Victor Torp's emergence reduced Sheaf's role under Frank Lampard. Sheaf is poised to become Wrexham's 11th signing, while 24-year-old Manchester City defender Issa Kabore, recently on loan at Benfica and Werder Bremen, is due for a medical.
Wrexham are set to sign Coventry City midfielder Ben Sheaf in another statement of intent from the Championship newcomers. The Hollywood-owned Welsh club have already spent more money than any other side in the second tier this summer and are now expected to pay in the region of 6.5m for Sheaf. The 27-year-old played an integral role in Coventry's run to the FA Cup semi-finals in 2024 and was rated among the Championship's best midfielders.
But a combination of injuries, the signing of Matt Grimes from Swansea City in January and the emergence of Victor Torp, have seen Sheaf fall down the pecking order under Frank Lampard. Sheaf is close to becoming Wrexham's 11th signing of the summer, and Manchester City defender Issa Kabore looks like he will be the next.
