Wolves have signed 26-year-old Czech defender Ladislav Krejci from Girona on an initial loan with a possible 26m permanent transfer through 2030 if conditions are fulfilled. Krejci can play centre-back and in midfield and made 35 appearances as Girona finished 16th in La Liga after joining from Sparta Prague, where he spent five years and won two league titles. Wolves have already added Jackson Tchatchoua, David Moller Wolfe, Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias this summer and are seeking at least one striker before the transfer deadline. Newcastle bids of 50m and 55m for Jorgen Strand Larsen were rejected; he scored twice as a substitute in the EFL Cup, and manager Vitor Pereira stated the club wants to retain key players and believes the forward will not force a move.
Football is football and every player has a price, even [Lionel] Messi or Cristiano [Ronaldo]. I understand football but for me it's very important for us. We will see what happens. If it's my decision, of course [he stays]. He is a very important player. I know a lot of players in my career in this situation and they have asked me not to play but he wants to play every time. He wants to help the team.
In the last seven or eight months I am with him, I know him very well. He will never force [a move]. Of course we know football is football. You must be ready for everything but I want to keep the best players and this kind of player with us.
