Wolves rejected Newcastle United offers of 50m and 55m for Jorgen Strand Larsen and plan to begin contract talks to improve his terms. Newcastle instead signed Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa. Strand Larsen joined Wolves permanently for 23m after a loan from Celta Vigo and scored 14 goals in 30 league starts last season. He has scored twice this term and missed one Premier League match with a minor Achilles injury. Wolves executive chairman Jeff Shi said the club never considered selling him, expects him to commit, and hopes he can score 20 goals and develop into a top striker.
[We] never considered selling him in the window. He is a very good boy, very honest and also very generous. I have no doubts about him. Sometimes in the market every person has some chance in their career but I believe he will forget about it and commit to the team. We had a very good conversation with him. After he comes back from some small injuries he will be ready. I'm sure he will score a lot.
Wolves are due to open contract talks with Jorgen Strand Larsen after rejecting Newcastle's bids in the transfer window. Offers of 50m and 55m for the striker were turned down before the Magpies signed Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart and Yoane Wissa from Brentford. Norway international Strand Larson only signed for Wolves permanently for 23m in the summer after joining on loan from Celta Vigo last year.
