Winter is coming: Premier League unveils new hi-vis Puma ball
"But in this case it's not hordes of the undead, it's a new hi-vis ball so that players and fans can see it on the pitch just in case it snows. The first time a winter ball was introduced in England's top tier was back in 2004-05, which we can only assume was a particularly chilly winter, and it coincided with the official timezone switch from British Summer Time (BST) to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) every late-October."

The 2025-26 Premier League will introduce a high-visibility PUMA Orbita Ultimate PL 'Under the Lights' winter ball, debuting Nov. 8 at Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United. The winter ball tradition began in 2004-05 and aligned with the BST-to-GMT timezone switch in late October. From 2008-09 onwards the winter ball was updated annually, making 2025-26 the 20th winter offering and PUMA's first season as official ball supplier. The new colorway is engineered to shine brightest under stadium floodlights to improve visibility for players, fans and VAR during snow or low light. The season has produced 209 goals across 80 matches so far.
