What is a transfer deal sheet?
"The deal sheet allows a club to confirm that an agreement has been reached and also give themselves more time to submit the remaining documentation. The Premier League and the English Football League have both set a transfer deadline for Monday, 2 February at 19:00 GMT. The deal sheet cannot be used before 17:00 GMT and needs to be filled in before the transfer window closes."
"Once the deal sheet arrives with the Premier League, the clubs have an additional two hours, or until 21:00 GMT to submit all the required paperwork. If all the necessary paperwork has still not been submitted after the deadline has passed, the transfer will not be able to proceed. The Premier League said a record number of nine deal sheets were handed in on deadline day in 2024."
The deal sheet permits clubs to register that a transfer agreement exists and grants extra time to upload remaining paperwork within a closing-window period. Clubs can submit a deal sheet only between 17:00 and the transfer deadline at 19:00, after which they get two further hours until 21:00 to complete documentation. Transfers lacking full paperwork by the extended deadline cannot proceed. The form requires details of the selling and buying clubs, the transfer fee, guaranteed sums and contingency payments. International signings must also meet the Fifa matching system deadline so both clubs and the FA can complete clearance.
