Wealdstone's Nkrumah out of hospital after injury
"Image source, Getty Images Wealdstone have said forward Daniel Nkrumah has been released from hospital following a serious shoulder injury which led to the club's National League game against Scunthorpe United on Saturday being abandoned. Scunthorpe were leading 2-1 late in the second half when Nkrumah, 21, sustained a dislocated shoulder and received treatment on the field for a significant period."
"Wealdstone said paramedics "administered gas and air" and "three doses of morphine via a cannula" before Nkrumah was taken from the field on a stretcher. Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside after the match, Scunthorpe boss Andy Butler suggested that Wealdstone's players had refused to return to complete the match and added that the league should ensure the result stands as a 2-1 win for his side."
"Wealdstone said Nkrumah's team-mates were "understandably concerned about the seriousness of his injury" because of "the administration of morphine on the pitch and the length of time required to assess and treat him". "While the exact extent of the injury will require an MRI scan to confirm, the early indication is that he will be sidelined for around four months," Wealdstone added. The club also said it "will not be making any statement regarding the abandonment of the game at this moment"."
Wealdstone forward Daniel Nkrumah sustained a dislocated shoulder late in the second half of a National League match against Scunthorpe United and received prolonged on-field treatment. Paramedics administered gas and air and three doses of morphine via a cannula before Nkrumah was stretchered off and taken to hospital; he has since been released. Scunthorpe led 2-1 when the incident occurred and the match was abandoned. Scunthorpe boss Andy Butler suggested Wealdstone players refused to return and urged the league to award a 2-1 win. Wealdstone said teammates were understandably concerned, expect around four months out pending an MRI, and deferred any comment on abandonment to officials.
