The signing occurred during a live press conference at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles while Rodman trained with the U.S. Women's National Team, with Spirit owner Michele Kang, CEO Kim Stone, and president of soccer operations Haley Carter onstage. Rodman was the second overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft at 18 and won 2021 NWSL Rookie of the Year. She became the youngest NWSL player to reach 50 career goal contributions.
