The three-year contract guarantees Trinity Rodman more than $2 million annually, making her the highest-paid women's soccer player globally and the highest-paid player in NWSL history. The signing occurred during a live press conference at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles while Rodman trained with the U.S. Women's National Team, with Spirit owner Michele Kang, CEO Kim Stone, and president of soccer operations Haley Carter onstage. Rodman was the second overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft at 18 and won 2021 NWSL Rookie of the Year. She became the youngest NWSL player to reach 50 career goal contributions. Rodman scored four goals and added an assist at the 2024 Paris Olympics as the U.S. won gold and has appeared in 47 national team matches. The Washington Spirit aim for another NWSL Championship appearance in 2026, with the season opener against Portland Thorns FC at Audi Field on March 13.
