"The club said Cardoso left Wednesday's training session due to discomfort and Koke Resurreccion replaced him for practice drills run by manager Diego Simeone. Tests confirmed Cardoso's injury, which will also rule him out of the next LaLiga match, also against Betis, on Sunday at Madrid's Metropolitano stadium."
Johnny Cardoso, 24, sustained a low-grade muscle injury in Wednesday's training and will be out for at least a week. The injury rules him out of Atletico Madrid's Copa del Rey quarterfinal against Real Betis and the upcoming LaLiga match at the Metropolitano. Cardoso left training with discomfort and was replaced in drills by Koke Resurreccion under manager Diego Simeone. Tests confirmed the injury. Cardoso joins Alexander Sorloth, who suffered a head injury against Levante, on Atletico's injury list. Atletico added Ademola Lookman, Obed Vargas and Rodrigo Mendoza during the January transfer window.
