Korda advances inside the baseline to sweep a backhand winner but Norrie's passing forehand brings deuce again. Korda holds his nerve after four deuces and leads 2-1 in the first set."
"Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the second day of singles action at Flushing Meadows hopefully Daniil Medvedev's calmed down by now. Venus Williams, 45 years young, will be up on Arthur Ashe in the evening but before then we've got plenty of names to keep an eye on: Madison Keys, Jack Draper, Petra Kvitova and Cam Norrie are in action over the next few hours."
Cam Norrie and Sebastian Korda contested a tense first set, with Korda serving multiple aces and edging 2-1 after four deuces. Korda struck six aces inside the opening 20 minutes and produced backhand winners while Norrie's passing forehand repeatedly forced deuces. Victoria Mboko, the 18-year-old Canadian and recent Montreal champion, faced Barbora Krejcikova and was broken in the first game. Petra Kvitova trailed Diane Parry, a break down. Venus Williams, Madison Keys, Jack Draper and other notable players were scheduled later on Arthur Ashe as the tournament continued.
