Stephen McMullan has been called into the Northern Ireland squad as injury cover after Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles suffered a shoulder injury. With Conor Hazard also unavailable, McMullan joins Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Luke Southwood as the three goalkeepers. The 20-year-old has been capped at under-18, under-19 and under-21 levels and has been included in senior squads without yet making his debut. McMullan began his senior career at Warrenpoint, moved to Fleetwood Town in 2022 and spent loan spells at Caernarfon Town and Waterford. He has been a regular starter for Waterford this season. Northern Ireland open qualifiers away to Luxembourg and then face Germany.

Former Warrenpoint Town keeper McMullan, 20, has been capped at under-18, under-19 and under-21 level for Northern Ireland. He has previously been called up to the senior squad but is yet to make his debut. McMullan started his senior career at Irish Premiership club Warrenpoint before moving to Fleetwood Town in 2022. Having struggled for game time, he spent six months on loan at Caernarfon Town in Wales last year before joining Waterford on loan for the 2025 League of Ireland season.
