"Tough one" Ex-Arsenal star expects Arteta to make difficult selection decision vs Villa today
"That's a tough one. I personally would start Saka. As much as Madueke has done really well, he's been out for a while (with a knee injury) so you don't want to put too much on him straight away. Arteta has been good this season at rotation and managing the squad. I know there's been a few injuries so he'd had to as well. I just think putting Saka back in will be the best choice for this game."
"They (Madueke and Saka) are quite similar. They're both left-footed and like to come in on their left foot from the right-hand side. I do feel in certain games, Arteta might go with both of them and go with Madueke on the left. The luxury this season is having great players off the bench or when there's injuries, one can step in."
Mikel Arteta faces a selection decision between Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke for the trip to Aston Villa, with Saka likely to start. Madueke started in the midweek win over Brentford and has shown strong form since joining from Chelsea, though a prior knee injury has limited him. Both players are left-footed wingers who cut inside from the right, offering similar attacking profiles. Arteta's rotation and squad management have allowed rest for key players and improved depth. The presence of both players provides flexibility to start them together in certain games and quality options off the bench.
