Toronto began its countdown of 500 days to the FIFA World Cup 26 by organizing soccer drills for young players in Regent Park. The event, attended by about 30 kids and led by former soccer player Dwayne De Rosario, aims to inspire children in underserved communities to aspire to a future in soccer. De Rosario emphasized the importance of sports in providing opportunities and pathways for success, sharing his own experience as a product of a community facing many obstacles. Toronto will host six matches of the World Cup in 2026.
It was sport that created a pathway for me to see the world, to help provide for my family.
