"Portland soccer fans can finally start planning their summers, as the National Women's Soccer League released its 2026 schedule today. The Thorns open the season March 13 at Audi Field against the Washington (DC) Spirit, and play their first home game March 20 against their Cascadia rival, Seattle Reign FC. The Portland squad travels to Lumen Field for an away matchup against Seattle on July 12."
"The Thorns will need to pick a new captain for the 2026 season. Sam Coffey, also a regular on the US national team, wore the armband last year, but she's headed to Manchester City in England's Women's Super League. Portland still has plenty of national team representation, though, with Sophia Wilson returning from maternity leave, Olivia Moultrie holding firm in the midfield, and forward Reilyn Turner receiving a recent call-up to the senior US roster."
The Portland Thorns open the 2026 NWSL season March 13 at Audi Field vs. the Washington Spirit and host Seattle Reign FC on March 20. The team visits Lumen Field on July 12 and has no regular-season games in June during the men's World Cup group stage across the US, Canada, and Mexico. The Thorns are three-time league champions (2013, 2017, 2022) and reached last season's playoffs, advancing past the quarterfinals before losing in the semifinals. Christine Sinclair has departed and Sam Coffey joined Manchester City, leaving the captaincy open. Sophia Wilson, Olivia Moultrie, Reilyn Turner, and Morgan Weaver are key roster notes. Sarah Lowdon serves as interim head coach amid recent coaching turnover.
