Steph Houghton remarked on Chelsea's continued dominance in women's football during an interview with 90min. This season, they are on course for a sixth consecutive WSL title, having won nine straight matches and remaining unbeaten. Under new manager Sonia Bompastor, who succeeded club icon Emma Hayes, Chelsea shows strong summer recruitment and a talented squad. Houghton notes Chelsea's impressive record, including 23 wins in 25 games across all competitions, and praises their capacity for winning even in tight matches.
"I wouldn't say surprise," was Houghton's response when asked by 90min if there has been anything unexpected about Chelsea's continued dominance. Summer recruitment was proactive and strong."
"They started the season really well and on fire. I think with the new manager coming in, you get a bounce from that. Emma Hayes left a great legacy there, but also a great squad of players and Sonia has definitely come in and added to that."
