Rui Borges has been appointed head coach of Sporting after Joao Pereira left following a poor start, which saw Sporting drop from the top of Primeira Liga.
Borges expressed enthusiasm for his new role stating, 'The time for me is right... I'm very positive, I believe things happen when they have to.'
Taking over from Joao Pereira, who lasted just over a month, Borges aims to regain the championship title with a squad he believes is the best.
Borges, previously with Vitoria Guimaraes, has signed a contract until June 2026, including an option for an additional year.
