She stated she has "always thought about playing overseas" and that timing is the only question. Negotiations to retain her in Washington or the NWSL have stalled because the league's salary cap prevents teams from matching foreign offers. Rodman's agent has raised the issue directly with NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman. Multiple serious offers exist abroad, including in England, where clubs can offer much higher salaries without a cap. Rodman, 23, sprained her MCL on Oct. 15 and has not played since; she is listed on the bench for the semifinal at Audi Field.
