Sunderland signed 33-year-old Granit Xhaka from Bayer Leverkusen for £13m. His long-range strike earned a 1-1 home draw with Everton that moved the promoted side into the Premier League top four. Xhaka produced a man-of-the-match display and has posted strong metrics: three assists, joint-11th for chances created, nine set-play chances created, 52 completed long passes (second among outfield players), 552 passes, 56 balls into the box and 49 possessions won. The goal was his first Premier League score since his final Arsenal match in 2022-23. Teammates and pundits praised his experience, reliability and performance level.
