Shamrock Rovers defeated Waterford 2-1. Josh Honohan opened the scoring after Adam Matthews' long throw was touched on to the back post. Rovers doubled their lead shortly after a triple substitution when Graham Burke assisted Matt Healy for a 25-yard left-footed strike. Waterford had early chances from James Olayinka and Sam Glenfield and saw McMullan produce a stunning save from a Dan Cleary header. In the final minute Tommy Lonergan volleyed a header from Dan Cleary back across goal to pull a goal back for the home side.
