"Like we said, we had a situation that we've been handling internally, and we said we would take it day-by-day, week-by-week. We think Hirving's response has been really positive in the training. He's working really hard, showing a lot of commitment to getting back into the team, and we had already communicated to him before this game, that as long as there's no setback this week, then he'll be back."
"I'm a passionate and competitive person who always wants to give everything for the team"
Hirving "Chucky" Lozano was omitted from San Diego FC's gameday roster for the club's first MLS playoff match following a reported locker-room altercation. Coach Mikey Varas said the situation is being handled internally and that decisions would be made day-by-day and week-by-week. Varas described Lozano's training response as positive and said the winger is working hard and committed to returning, with the possibility of rejoining the team if there is no setback. The club won Game 1 at Snapdragon Stadium 2-1, and reporting indicated the incident followed a halftime substitution against Houston Dynamo. Lozano issued a brief apology on social media.
