Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly in discussions to participate in FIFA's inaugural Club World Cup this summer. FIFA President Gianni Infantino has indicated that transfers might occur due to a unique window, allowing Ronaldo, whose Al Nassr team did not qualify, to join one of the competing clubs. This could lead to an unprecedented short-term signing, possibly even a loan. Such a move would enhance the tournament's appeal, especially reuniting Ronaldo with Lionel Messi since their last match in the 2022 World Cup.
Cristiano Ronaldo might play in the Club World Cup, Infantino told online streamer IShowSpeed, whose YouTube channel has more than 39 million subscribers.
FIFA confirmed on Wednesday that last-minute transfer signings are open to all teams going to the tournament, which fuelled more speculation that one of them will try to sign the 40-year-old Ronaldo on a short-term deal.
