The 23-year-old, daughter of former NBA star Dennis Rodman, has been a free agent since her previous deal with the Spirit expired on 31 December. But her new deal, worth a reported $2m a year (1.48m) including bonuses, will keep Rodman with Spirit until 2028."
"In 2025, the salary cap for the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) was $3.5m (2.6m) per team. But the NWSL board of governors approved a new 'High Impact Player' rule in December, which allowed teams to spend up to $1m (760,000) over the cap on star players - such as Rodman - that meet certain criteria. "Trinity is a generational player, but more importantly she represents the future of this club and the future of women's soccer," said owner of Washington Spirit Michele Kang."
Trinity Rodman has signed a new three-year deal with Washington Spirit that keeps her at the club until 2028. The contract is reportedly worth $2m a year and will make her the highest-paid female footballer in the world, according to her agent Mike Senkowski. The NWSL's 2025 salary cap was $3.5m per team, and a new 'High Impact Player' rule allows teams to spend up to $1m over the cap on qualifying star players. Rodman helped Spirit win the 2021 NWSL Championship, has 47 international caps with 11 goals, and scored three goals as the United States won Olympic gold in 2024. Washington Spirit owner Michele Kang called her a generational player and the future of women's soccer.
