The 34-year-old was a second-half substitute for Pumas in a goalless home draw against Club Puebla at the Estadio Olimpico Universitario in Mexico City. Wearing the number 10 shirt, Ramsey came on after 62 minutes to play his first football since leaving the field with a hamstring injury in Cardiff's 2-1 victory over Luton on 11 March.
Ramsey last played for Wales in September 2024 but could now be in contention when manager Craig Bellamy names his squad for the World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan later this week. Despite injuries and a brief spell in management, Ramsey has made it clear he wants to continue his playing career to lead Wales at the World Cup next summer.
He took charge of his home-town club Cardiff City as interim manager for the final three games of the 2024-25 season but was unable to prevent relegation from the Championship. In July, the former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder said he was "excited by the challenge" of becoming the first high-profile British player to play in the Mexican league. Wales travel to Astana on Thursday, 4 September second in Group J. They also play a friendly against Canada in Swansea on 9 September.
