QPR top scorer Burrell ruled out until March

"QPR have been dealt a blow as top scorer Rumarn Burrell has been ruled out until March after picking up an injury in Sunday's 3-0 win over Sheffield United. Burrell, 25, scored the opening goal for the Hoops before landing awkwardly after going for a header, and was replaced after 21 minutes. The Jamaica international has made a great start to life at Loftus Road, scoring 10 goals and forming a strong partnership with Richard Kone in Julien Stephan's attack."

"Defender Liam Morrison was injured in the warm-up and replaced by Steve Cook in the starting XI before Burrell and midfielder Jonathan Varane both had to be withdrawn in the first half. Kwame Poku, who missed much of the start of the season with a hamstring injury since moving to the club from Peterborough United last summer, did not come back out after half-time, with the club stating the forward has sustained another hamstring injury."

"Morrison was taken out of the game as a precaution and is expected to return to training next week, the club said. Varane picked up a "minor knee sprain during the fixture and is being monitored ahead of a potential return later this month", while QPR expect Poku to return to training in February. Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Ilias Chair and centre-back Jake Clarke-Salter are expected to return to first-team training later this month, following their respective injuries."
