Predict how English clubs will fare in Champions League
"The 2025-26 Champions League is nearly upon us and this year there will be a record six Premier League clubs competing in Europe's elite contest. There will, however, be no Scottish teams in the competition proper for the first time since 2021-22 after Celtic and Rangers were knocked out in the play-offs - it comes after Scotland lost its automatic spot having dropped out of the top 10 of Uefa's coefficient rankings."
"Arsenal come into the Champions League off the back of a promising season in Europe, reaching the semi-finals for the first time in 16 years. They, alongside Liverpool and Aston Villa, fell to eventual champions PSG but Mikel Arteta's side showed a massive improvement on the European stage as they overcame reigning champions Real Madrid, beating them home and away with a dominant aggregate 5-1 scoreline."
The 2025-26 Champions League will feature a record six Premier League clubs and operate a new 36-team league phase, with the draw on 28 August in Monaco and matches starting 16 September. Scotland has no representatives after Celtic and Rangers were eliminated in the play-offs following Scotland's drop out of Uefa's top-10 coefficient rankings. Paris St-Germain enter as holders after a 5-0 final win over Inter Milan, and Real Madrid top Uefa's coefficients. Arsenal reached the semi-finals and beat Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate last season; they have spent over £150m on forwards Victor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke. Manager Mikel Arteta faces mounting pressure to deliver major silverware.
