Paqueta warned but avoids extended ban for dissent
"As guidance, we've issued West Ham United's Lucas Paqueta with a warning and reminder of his responsibilities for the on-field incident that followed his red card at the Premier League fixture against Liverpool on Sunday, 30 November,"
"reflection of everything I have had to endure"
"for the improper purpose of affecting the betting market"
"not proven"
Lucas Paqueta was shown two yellow cards in quick succession for dissent by referee Darren England during West Ham's 2-0 home defeat to Liverpool. He continued to argue with officials and sarcastically applauded the referee before leaving the field. The FA issued Paqueta a warning and reminder of his responsibilities and said it will not take further action beyond the automatic suspension for the dismissal. Paqueta will miss the upcoming Manchester United match because of the red card. He faced a 2024 FA spot-fixing investigation, was charged in May, cleared by an independent regulatory commission in July when four charges were found "not proven", and was reprimanded for failing to comply with the probe. Paqueta had been returning from a one-match suspension for accumulating five yellow cards.
