David Hopkinson will take up the role of chief executive at Newcastle United effective September 5. The club has been without a day-to-day chief executive since Darren Eales stepped down last year due to health reasons. Hopkinson previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer at Madison Square Garden Sports, overseeing business operations for the New York Knicks and New York Rangers. He has also held the role of Global Head of Partnerships at Real Madrid and worked in executive positions with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors. Club chairman Yasir Al Rumayyan praised his track record and strategic capabilities for local and global growth.
