Plans for Newcastle United's stadium and training ground are in limbo. Head coach Eddie Howe says there is a "99.9% chance" he will not be in charge to see them realised. The club continues to explore expanding St James' or building a new stadium elsewhere, but CEO David Hopkinson has said the club will play at the current ground for many years. Work is ongoing to double the Benton training ground footprint, but site limitations mean a new state-of-the-art base will ultimately be needed. Improved facilities are seen as a way to raise standards, support the academy and signal clear ambition. St James' capacity has fallen behind several clubs, creating a significant revenue gap.
