Ibrahime Sylla, a young asylum seeker from Guinea, faces persecution and violence, prompting him to flee to Mexico, where he realized his dreams as a soccer player for Necaxa. His tumultuous journey through ten countries, including a dangerous crossing of the Darien Gap, highlights the extreme hardships faced by refugees. Despite the fear and violence he experienced at home, where ethnic conflicts heightened after a military coup, he turned to football as a source of hope, culminating in what he calls his 'Mexican dream' in Aguascalientes.
They told me that if they found me, they would do something bad to me, that they would kill me. From that moment, everything became complicated.
Football has been a part of Sylla's life since childhood. I kicked a ball against the walls of my house to take my mind off the social problems.
