Lionel Messi won the 2025 MLS Golden Boot after scoring 29 goals in 28 games. The award was presented before Inter Miami's Round One match against Nashville SC. Messi also co-led the league with 19 assists and remains the heavy favorite for the 2025 MVP. Inter Miami signed Messi to a three-year contract extension keeping him through the 2028 season. Messi joined Inter Miami in July 2023, helped the club capture the 2023 Leagues Cup, clinched the 2024 Supporters' Shield and set an MLS single-season points record. Consecutive MVP wins are possible if Messi secures the 2025 trophy.
