Alexander Isak has signed a long-term contract with Liverpool after the clubs agreed a British record transfer fee of £125 million. The 25-year-old striker said he was proud to join, eager to rejoin teammates and fans, and determined to contribute goals and more while aiming to win everything. Isak had publicly sought a move after Newcastle rejected a £110m bid earlier in August and after he missed a pre-season tour. He scored 23 Premier League goals last season as Newcastle finished fifth and qualified for the Champions League, and he scored in Newcastle's EFL Cup final win over Liverpool.
"It's been a long journey to get here. But I'm super-happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It's something I'm proud of and I'm really looking forward to it. "I'm just happy it's done and that I can get back to work. I'm looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans, and getting back out there."
"I think I have a lot to give, I think I have a lot to improve. I'm a striker but I always want to give as much as possible to the team, mainly goals but much more than that as well. "I want to win everything. Yeah, [as simple as that]. Isak finally gets his wish and joins Liverpool It means Isak gets the move he has hankered for all summer having made public his desire to leave Newcastle two weeks ago."
