Lazio winger Loum Tchaouna was substituted after being racially abused by fans during his side's Europa League win against Twente on Thursday, which visibly angered him.
Lazio manager Marco Baroni confirmed that Tchaouna perceived the howling from fans, stating, 'It's a subject I don't want to expand on now, we tried to calm him down.'
UEFA has already sanctioned several clubs for the racist behaviour of supporters in European competition this season, including Lazio, which faced fines and closures.
The incident has raised concerns over racism in football, particularly as Lazio will have to close sections of their stadium for future matches.
