Everton captain Megan Finnigan has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, ruled out for the remainder of the season. Finnigan injured herself early in a 2-0 FA Cup win against Tottenham. A club statement confirmed her rehabilitation would begin under medical supervision. The team has faced a difficult season with multiple ACL injuries, affecting squad morale, as expressed by manager Brian Sorensen. Finnigan, the club's longest-serving player, has been crucial, having played in all 12 Women’s Super League games, helping keep the team above relegation zone despite challenges.
A scan confirmed Finnigan's injury and the 26-year-old will now have rehabilitation under the care of our medical team.
In the three years I've been here we hadn't had any [ACL injuries] until this season, and this is number three so it's not ideal.
