Caoimhin Kelleher described the loss of Diogo Jota as very difficult and called Jota a huge friend who will be a big miss. Kelleher attended Jota's wedding eleven days before the fatal car crash that also killed Andre Silva. Kelleher left Liverpool for Brentford to become a first-choice goalkeeper and join a small Irish contingent including Nathan Collins and manager Keith Andrews. Regular weekly game time at Brentford has increased Kelleher's confidence and experience. Kelleher hopes that improved club form will carry into the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Hungary.
It's not been the easiest of times for me, personally, and for the lads at Liverpool it's going to be difficult,
He's going to be a big miss.
I've lost a huge friend, so it's been difficult, as you'd imagine.
It's a good change for me and hopefully it pays dividends for the national team as well. It's been a positive change for me. I'm getting more confidence and gaining experience every week.
