Liverpool's initial £110m bid for Alexander Isak was rejected on 1 August. Liverpool is expected to return with a renewed offer of at least £120m to sign the Sweden striker. Alexander Isak posted on Instagram that "the relationship can't continue" and intends to move to Anfield. Newcastle's imminent signing of Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade for up to €80m is the first of three linked moves needed for Isak's sale. Brentford's Yoane Wissa and Borussia Dortmund forward Max Beier are also part of the transfer chain. Newcastle said conditions for a sale this summer have not transpired and do not foresee them being met.
Liverpool's second bid for Alexander Isak has been inevitable since the Newcastle striker dropped his now infamous "broken promises" statement 10 days ago. With three days to go until the transfer window shuts, we are still waiting for the Premier League champions' improved second offer after their original 110m bid was rejected on 1 August.
But sources continue to insist it is merely a matter of time before the Reds return with a new one - likely to be for a minimum of 120m - to land Isak in what would be a British record deal. And that move holds the key that could unlock a number of other transfers before Monday's deadline.
Isak, Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade, Brentford's Yoane Wissa and Borussia Dortmund forward Max Beier are in something akin to a house-sale chain, with values, contracts and moving dates all needing to be lined up for it to work.
