Heimir Hallgrimsson has welcomed Troy Parrott's scoring form at AZ Alkmaar and Evan Ferguson's promising start at Roma. Parrott scored 20 goals last season and has added 10 this term after choosing to remain in the Eredivisie rather than move back to England, with Hallgrimsson stressing that stability will benefit him. Ferguson joined Roma on loan from Brighton and impressed in his Serie A debut, creating a clear chance and coping well with physical defenders. The manager expects both forwards to bring their club form into the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Troy has been on fire from pre-season and last season as well, so it's a good step for him,
I know there was a lot of interest in him but he wanted to stay. I really like that as he needs stability and if he continues like this, it's really good for us.
My first impressions were really good. Looking at him in pictures, he even seems fitter. His first game was brilliant. It's tough for a striker to play in Italy. There's not a lot of spaces, up against physical defenders, and he coped with it really well. I hope he'll bring that into our camp.
