Enzo Maresca told Marc Guiu his training standards were unacceptable and demanded change, after which Guiu improved his work and earned chances. Guiu was recalled early from a loan at Sunderland following Liam Delap’s long hamstring lay-off. Guiu has appeared as a substitute in Premier League matches, helping create space for teammates and allowing Joao Pedro to operate as a number 10. Guiu started and scored against Ajax in the Champions League. Delap has returned to training but is not yet ready for first-team action and could feature in the EFL Cup against Wolves.
