Graham Arnold has resigned as coach of Australia after a disappointing performance in Asian World Cup qualifiers. Football Australia aims to find a new head coach ahead of critical qualifiers next month.
‘We are seeking a head coach who aligns with our vision for the Socceroos and can seamlessly integrate into the team's identity,’ said Football Australia chief executive James Johnson.
Football Australia plans to identify a coach quickly, with important qualifying matches for the World Cup against China and Japan on the schedule in mid-October.
Sources confirm that Arnold’s departure was voluntary, contrary to earlier public speculations about him being pushed out following underwhelming results.
