Gareth Bale opens up on secret injury hell as ex-Real Madrid & Tottenham star explains how back trouble ended his career | Goal.com US
"I've always said when I retire, I want one, two, three years to relax, enjoy time with the kids, and then try to figure out some paths I want to pursue. That kind of thing appeals to me more than... going into management. I feel like I've done that as a player, and you should dedicate more time as a coach and manager."
Since retiring in January 2023, Bale has shifted focus toward family and business interests rather than pursuing a coaching career. At 36 years old, he is deliberately taking time away from professional sports pressures to enjoy personal pursuits. Though interested in sports management, he recognizes the substantial time commitment required and has chosen to resist entering that field. His final playing season at LAFC culminated in winning the MLS Cup, and he subsequently joined a consortium exploring the purchase of his hometown club Cardiff City. Bale plans to spend several years relaxing and spending time with his children before determining his next professional direction.
