Fulham contact PGMOL over 'offside' Wirtz goal
"We are still waiting for some feedback from the Premier League, from PGMOL, because it is very important for us. We didn't have the one to make us understand why and not have the same opinion. Not just me... me, my staff, our football club, all the other players, fans. I think if you go to ask all Premier League [teams, each club] is going to have the same opinion. All the people that love football will have the same opinion as myself."
"I was sure it was offside so I didn't even celebrate."
Fulham have sought contact with the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) after Florian Wirtz's 57th-minute strike was initially flagged offside but allowed to stand following a VAR check. The decision brought Liverpool level at 1-1 and the match finished 2-2 after stoppage-time goals from both sides. Fulham consider the goal a clear offside and are awaiting feedback from PGMOL and the Premier League to understand the ruling. Wirtz said he believed he was offside and did not celebrate. The goal was allowed due to an offside tolerance of about 5cm introduced to account for technology inaccuracies.
