"A former Premier League footballer is in court after his two dogs, an XL Bully and an American bulldog, allegedly attacked a man. Said Benrahma faces two counts of owning dangerously out-of-control dogs after an incident in Hornchurch, east London, in 2023 in which a man, Luke Rehbin, alleges he was injured by an XL Bully and that an American bulldog also went for him. Benrahma was due to appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court on 2 October but could not attend because he is living in Saudi Arabia and playing for Neom SC. The case was adjourned and a plea hearing is scheduled for 16 October. Convictions can lead to unlimited fines, prison sentences, bans on dog ownership, or euthanasia of the animals. Benrahma began his career at Nice, moved to Brentford in 2018 scoring 27 goals in 83 appearances, joined West Ham initially on loan in October 2020 and permanently in 2021 for around £30m, scored 24 goals in 155 games, was later loaned to Lyon and transferred to Neom SC for £13m, and has 40 caps and four goals for Algeria.
