Fernandinho retired from professional football following a farewell charity match at Arena da Baixada after finishing his playing career with Athletico Paranaense in 2024. He began at Athletico Paranaense, won six league titles and the 2009 UEFA Cup with Shakhtar Donetsk, then moved to Manchester City. He won five Premier League titles and six EFL Cups with City. He made 264 Premier League appearances for City, scored 20 goals, registered 19 assists and recorded 380 interceptions. He won the 2019 Copa America with Brazil, made ten World Cup appearances scoring once, and said he wants to enjoy time with his family.
