Douglas Luiz, a 27-year-old Brazil midfielder, has joined Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan from Juventus with a conditional obligation to make the move permanent next summer. Luiz moved from Aston Villa to Juventus a year earlier in a €42.35m deal on a five-year contract. He made 204 appearances for Aston Villa across all competitions and scored nine goals in 35 Premier League games in the 2023–24 season before his transfer to Italy. Luiz said he chose to return to the Premier League with Forest because he could "see the ambition the club has" and added that he was "so excited to start with the team and give my best for the shirt and the fans."
