""We are absolutely buzzing," Dyche said. "He works hard for us and he's trained well. Funnily enough, I chatted with him last week and reminded him to be free, and he looked free when he came on. ""Forest were hanging on to Igor Jesus' first-half opener when Awoniyi, on as a substitute, chased Morgan Gibbs-White's long ball down the line. The 28-year-old stepped inside Michael Kayode's tackle and slipped the ball beyond Caoimhin Kelleher. It was Awoniyi's first goal since last January and his first since requiring emergency abdominal surgery after colliding with a post against Leicester in May.""
Nottingham Forest beat Brentford 2-0 with Taiwo Awoniyi scoring his first goal in a year after coming on as a substitute. Igor Jesus opened the scoring in the first half, and Forest defended stoutly until Awoniyi chased a long Morgan Gibbs-White pass, stepped inside Michael Kayode and finished past Caoimhin Kelleher. Awoniyi's strike was his first since January and his first after emergency abdominal surgery following a collision with a post in May. Manager Sean Dyche praised Awoniyi's work, confidence and finish. The win extended Forest's cushion above the relegation zone to five points. Brentford manager Keith Andrews called the result frustrating.
