Fishlock can inspire 'decisions' for Wales players
"Jess became Jess because of the decisions she made, where she travelled to and the uncomfortable position she put herself in to push her own standards,"
"I think there's an opportunity now for the players to look at themselves in their career and to make decisions about where they want to go and how they want to push themselves."
Rhian Wilkinson says Jess Fishlock can continue to influence Wales despite retiring from international football after a 19-year career. The squad met in Spain for friendlies against South Korea and Switzerland. Wilkinson wants more players to increase club minutes to build on Wales' Euro 2025 appearance and target the 2027 World Cup. Fishlock left home young for AZ, becoming the first overseas player in the Eredivisie, helped AZ win two league titles, then played for Bristol Academy, Melbourne Victory and Seattle Reign from 2013. Fishlock also had spells in Scotland, Australia, Germany, France and England. Wilkinson urges players to leave comfort zones and make career choices that push standards.
