Fifa launches new Women's Champions Cup but delays Women's Club World Cup
Briefly

The FIFA Council has approved the launch of a new six-team Women's Champions Cup, set for 2024, while the Women's Club World Cup has been delayed to 2026. The Champions Cup will include champions from all confederations yearly, excluding Women's Club World Cup years, allowing for the first-ever global club championship involving clubs from all six confederations. The FIFA president sees this initiative as pivotal in elevating women's club football, catering to commercial ambitions and providing essential spaces within the football calendar.
The competition will be played every four years from 2028. In the meantime, the Women's Champions Cup will get underway annually, except in Women's Club World Cup years.
The champions of each confederation’s club tournament will take part, with the first time all six confederations will crown a club champion.
