Alon Ohel, kidnapped by Hamas during the October 7 attack, is critically injured and in dire conditions in Gaza. His family has been traumatized for 642 days, hoping for news of his survival. Hostages released by Hamas reported his deteriorating state, including loss of sight and starvation. Ohel's family, along with other relatives of hostages, are urging for more international assistance, particularly from Germany, to secure the return of those still alive, as out of 146 initially captives, 24 remain unaccounted.
"We know that he is in a very bad condition. He lost his sight in the right eye. There is a real danger for the other eye. He does not get any food. He is starving. He is in a critical condition."
"They have been together with him for the whole period of time. We hope he is surviving, because they [Hamas] want him to be alive. Because (otherwise) they have nothing to deal with Israel."
