Sepp Blatter, former FIFA president, is preparing for a court hearing concerning accusations of corrupt payments to Michel Platini. Despite being cleared in 2022 by a Swiss court, which confirmed the legitimacy of their contract, Swiss prosecutors are appealing the verdict. Blatter claims he has been subjected to a 'witch hunt' and feels that the appeal is without merit. He remains optimistic about the new court's decision, reiterating his belief in his integrity and innocence against the backdrop of a seven-year investigation.
"The Federal Criminal Court in 2022 said the contract between Platini and me was correct, and I expect the new court will confirm this decision," Blatter told Reuters, adding the appeal was "absolute nonsense."
"It's a witch hunt against me, it feels like a vendetta," the 88-year-old added. "I am completely confident I will be cleared, I'm an honest man."
